SAINT RITA GABRIEL PROJECT

Gabriel Project is a parish-based pregnancy assistance ministry run by the Office for Family Life of the Diocese of Arlington. Our mission at the St. Rita’s chapter is to help any pregnant woman within our parish boundaries (whether Catholic or not) who needs assistance.

CURRENT STATS

  • This statistic may not be impressive, but the fact is that we average helping about two (2) to three (3) women per year, which means our volunteer commitment is minimal (until of course we are helping someone.)
  • 100% of our clients (thus far) speak Spanish and little or no English.
  • We have provided, transportation to appointments, hospital visits (support during labor and birth), cribs, car seats, diapers, baby clothes and numerous other baby items to help needy moms out. Most importantly, we pray for and with our clients.

Our “trained” volunteers (of which we have about a handful at the parish) are called Gabriel Angels. Angel training is provided by the diocesan Family Life Office at various parishes throughout the year. These volunteers are the only ones that are approved to interact with clients. We are always in need of trained Angels that are bilingual. If you know of anyone who may have a heart for this ministry, and also speaks Spanish, please send them to St. Rita’s Chapter Coordinator, Vanessa Kelly, pvkelly1@verizon.net.
